What is the Difference Between RAM and ROM 2019

what is the difference between Ram and Rom: Ram and Rom both are the internal memories of a computer also Ram and Rom sounds like same things but there are many differences between Ram and Rom in this post we will discuss what is the difference between Ram and Rom

What is the difference between Ram and Rom 2019

The full form of Ram is (Random Access Memory) while the full form of Rom is (Read only Memory) Before discussing what is the difference between Ram and Rom first we will discuss the definition of both Ram and Rom

Definition of Ram

After the SSD. Ram is the largest memory in a computer that store programs used be CPU in real-time Ram (Random Access Memory) can be read and write or erase any time

It's a volatile memory which means it can be read and write and erased any time. That's the only reason why we can't use Ram as a  permanent storage of any Device

Ram is working all the time and keeps saving the programs used by CPU. For example, if you do any activity on your device and you just shut down your device without killing these activity whenever you switch on the Device you will see the activity still works in background that's Ram

TYPE OF Ram

there are two types of RAM (Random Access Memory)
  • SRAM
  • DRAM

SRAM(static Ram):  it stores a bit data using the state of a six transistor memory cell SRAM is a bit faster than DRAM

DRAM(Dynamic Ram):  it stores a bit data using a pair of transistor and capacitor which constitute A DRAM memory cell

Definition of ROM

ROM is another internal memory of computer and ROM (Read-only Memory) that can only be read with CPU but in can not be modified it has to be transferred first to the RAM then CPU can access the data from RAM

ROM stores the data instruction that computer Required during Bootstrapping
(A process of Booting) the content in ROM can not be modified ROM is a nonvolatile memory the capacity of ROM compare to RAM in low and cheaper

TYPE OF ROM

  • PROM
  • EPROM
  • EEPROM
PROM: Programmable ROM it can be modified only one time by the user.

EPROM: Erasable and programmable ROM it can be Erase using ultraviolet rays and can be reprogrammed

EEPROM: Electrically and Erasable and programmable ROM it can be erased and program about Ten thousand time

What Is The Difference Between Ram and Rom

  1. The Key difference between Ram and Rom is RAM is a read and write memory and ROM is a read-only Memory
  2. RAM stores the data which have been processed by the CPU currently on the other hand ROM stores the instructions that are required during Booting
  3. RAM is a volatile memory and ROM is a nonvolatile memory
  4. RAM stands for Random Access Memory and ROM stands for Read only Memory
  5. RAM can be modified easily on the other hand ROM can not be modified or hardly modified
  1. RAM can be ranged 64GB to 4GB whereas ROM is smaller than RAM
  1. RAM IS costly then ROM
  2. RAM can be classified static and Dynamic RAM when ROM can be classified PROM, EPROM, EEPROM

Conclusion

RAM and ROM both are necessary memory in a computer RAM stores the things processed by CPU and ROM store the data which requires while Booting
